Best microphone for VB recording??

I want to invest in a new/better microphone for recording UTAU samples, but I don't know what to get?

What microphones do you guys use? What do you recommend? I'm not exactly rich, so I can't afford much.. but I don't want a cheap microphone, either.

Hm... this question is asked a lot... Try searching VO or OU for threads like this, they might help.
People tend to say Hayao is fairly good quality, but I use a built in mic.
Sony VAIO, laptop.
I make sure I PLAN to record, and record as soon as the computer is turned on, so the Lappy isn't making overheating noises when I record...

For recording I use a nice Philips Mic. It's not very expensive, but then again Philips offers a veriety of good technology at low prices.

The mic has a input focus, so that noises from around you are not or only barely recorded, but only what is directly in front of the mic.

It has a membrane filter inside so your 'p' and 't' and 's' noises don't click too much.

I use it with my DJ console and there is zero(point zerozerozeroone xD) interference (meaning you really can't hear it unless you amplify really badass), and it's nice handling.

you'd be supprised how often you find some really good hardware by Philips with really low prices.

For a long time I got my giant headphones from them. They just had some issues with the cable, as it tended to break after some months, though the sound quality was stunning. And they cost something betweet 15 € and 25€ (er... yes I'm European xD *outed*. ... you guys knew that already, don't look so shocked!).

But I reckon you can get the mic in an online store?

PS:

However: without a USB or Firewire or Ethernet compatible mixing board, so to say by plugging the mic directly into your PC there will of course be white noise.
Though it shouldn't be too much and defineatly like a hundret times better than a built in laptop mic or so *yak!*.

I use a McCrypt microphone. It's a Dutch brand so you'll have to order it online, but it's seriously good quality.

Basically it's meant for PC use and it doesn't pick up on environment sounds. Even when planes fly over I don't get distortions, so I'm quite happy with the quality. I did get noise problems in Audacity once with it, but I think that was just temporary as it's now gone without me doing anything.

The only downside is that the microphone has no pop filter, but you can easily improvise one with putting cloth around it.

One word of caution, though - I am not sure they sell internationally. I can't find an English option on the site of the exclusive seller, so I fear you'll have to contact the company. >_<;
